Overview & Modern Science
Acute laryngitis causes hoarseness or loss of voice with throat irritation, fever, and difficulty swallowing. It often follows a viral cold, excess voice use, or exposure to irritants such as smoke.
In Ayurveda, this condition is called Svarabheda and is linked to Pittanubandha Udana Dusti, which shows Pitta disturbance affecting the voice channel. Root causes include viral infection, voice strain, allergic reaction, and smoking, which aggravate Pitta and disturb Udana Vata.
