Overview & Modern Science
Acute cervical disc bulge is a common neck disc problem that occurs when disc material herniates or protrudes, pressing on nearby cervical nerves. This compression leads to symptoms like localized neck pain, shooting pain down the arms, stiffness, tingling, and localized muscle spasms.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition is understood as a Vata dosha (the energy of movement and nervous function) imbalance localized in the cervical spine. It primarily involves the depletion or affliction of Asthi Dhatu (bone tissue) and Majja Dhatu (nervous and marrow tissue), often triggered by trauma, postural strain, or Vata-aggravating dietary and lifestyle habits.
